YEAR 12 BTEC ICT - Additional support class Wednesdays 3:05- 3:45pm with Mrs Nelson
Examing board: Pearson, Edexcel
This is a Level 2 qualification which is graded at Level 2 Pass, Level 2 Merit, Level 2 Distinction, Level 2 Distinction 2*.
The course consists of four units, each contributing 25% to the final grade.

YEAR 11
UNIT 1  - The Online World -Theory Exam (25%)
Within this unit pupils will:

  • Investigate online services and online communication.
  • Investigate components of the internet and how digital devices exchange and store information.
  • Investigate issues with operating online.

This is externally assessed using an onscreen test. The external assessment will last an hour. 


UNIT 5 - Creating Digital Audio - Internal Assessment (25%)
Within this unit pupils will:

  • Understand the applications and features of digital audio products.
  • Design a digital audioproduct
  • Create, test and review a digital audio product.


YEAR 12
UNIT 6 - Creating Digital Graphics- Internal Assessment (25%)

Within this unit pupils will:

  • Understand the applications and features of digital graphic products.
  • Design digital graphic products.
  • Create, test and review digital graphic products.


UNIT 3 - A Digital Portfolio - Internal Assessment (25%)
Within this unit pupils will:

  • Design a digital portfolio
  • Create and test a digital portfolio
  • Review the digital portfolio

OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Information Technology Applications

Today’s work environment depends increasingly on a range of technologies. The OCN NI Level 2 Certificate in Information Technology Applications are designed to provide learners with the IT skills required to function successfully in the work and wider environment. This qualification has been awarded points which equates to a Grade B at GCSE.

Progression Opportunities

The OCN NI Level 2  Certificate in Information Technology Applications qualification enables progression to the Level 3 Information in Technology Applications qualifications and/or further learning in this area or into employment.

Pupils will study four units over two years:

Year 11

  • WORD PROCESSING
  • USING THE INTERNET

Year 12

  • E-MAIL SOFTWARE
  • SPREADSHEET SOFTWARE

This course is 100% portfolio based.
