The Nendrum girls' football team impress at the National Football Finals -
After despatching OLSPK. and Castlederg and despite suffering from a close defeat by Enniskilen the side reached the Semi Final stages. The side went one goal up early on against a large and physical St. Colms side. With determined, technical football being displayed the side pushed for another goal. With the St. Colms goalkeeper producng great saves, the additional goal did not arrive and St. Colms grabbed an equaliser with four minutes remaining. With the game in the balance the St. Colms side pushed forward in the dying seconds and they snatched the winner with literally one second remaining in the match.
The old adage, so near but so far could not be more relevant. All players gave a tremendous amount of effort and the only thing lacking today was an additional piece of luck. Congratulations to the St.Colm's side not only on their win but for their victory in the final.
At final whistle, not one head was bowed but held up high and proud. This is the Nendrum way, the way Mrs Scates would have wanted. I am so proud of each and everyone of you. Today you are my heroes.
A special thanks to Michelle Jennifer Crawford for her unwavered support to the girls.
