Year 8 pupils were very excited to welcome three special guests to Nendrum today: Deborah Girvan, Manuella and the Irish Fairy.
Through a shared cultural history grounded in the life of St Columbanus, Nendrum's Year 8s are looking forward to learning more about Italian school life, culture and language through partnerships with schools in Albenga.
In an assembly today, Deborah and Manuella taught the Year 8s a little about the history of St Columbanus, Italian culture and basic Italian phrases. We were also pleased to receive a card from an Italian school in which pupils introduced themselves. Miss Thompson presented Manuella with the story of the Nendrum College badge, which uses symbols linked to the historic monastic site of Nendrum, just outside Comber.
The Year 8s are now looking forward to building their knowledge and understanding of Italian culture, and sharing their own experiences of life at Nendrum and the wider community.
