It was eagerly anticipated that the three 800m stars- Nathan McBride, Casey Miskelly and Joel Chambers would achieve success at the Ulster Schools' Track Championships and they did not disappoint.
In the Mini girls race Casey went out hard from the gun and bravely set the pace. Unfortunately she was unaware that the danger was coming fast from behind and in the latter stages was unable to respond. Casey ended up a very fine third and will have gained considerable experience on how the race unfolded. Her time was a new p.b of 2.31.99 mins.
In the respective boys age group Joel Chambers also blasted from the start and he kicked hard with 150m to run the legs from the entire field to claim the gold. His time was 2.16.20. The third Nendrum pupil Nathan McBride was also experiencing the atmosphere of his first Ulster Schools' and he entered the fray with full conviction. In a quality field Nathan was competitive throughout culminating in a spirited battle up the homestraight to finish a very impressive 5th in 2.05.42.
Well done to all three for delivering the goods for Nendrum College.
