North Down Schools' Cross country success

After the Christmas break the return to school means that the sporting focus shifts to cross country running. At the recent North Down Schools' event hosted at the Valentine Playing Fields in Bangor the College were represented by 45 pupils and there was some excellent results. Joel Chambers of year 8 has already established himself as a burgeoning talent with Ballydrain Harriers and his win will hopefully be the first of many successes at schools level. Casey Miskelly also had a convincing victory and like Joel is also a member of Ballydrain Harriers. The third victory came from Aimee Quinn in the junior girls category with a gutsy performance. The final individual victory came from Curtis Hunter in the Intermediate section and it was fitting that Curtis also won the same race that Joel won when he was in year 8. Overall the year 8 team packed very well with four runners making the top six positions to win the team race from close rivals Priory College. The squad are now training away in preparation for the Co. Down Schools' championships on the 9th February 2017 at Kilbroney Forest Park.
