Linking Generations is a local charity group aiming to develop a greater understanding and respect between generations. The current project, EngAGE, hopes to link both Nendrum College Comber with Stepping Stones sheltered housing in Comber. This programme is funded by the local community policing group (PSNI)
Residents of Stepping Stones and pupils from Nendrum College met for the first time to identify how they could develop a better understanding of their ages, their ability to communicate and what things they have in common.
The first group meeting took place in Stepping Stones in Comber with a few icebreaker activities and tea and biscuits. This was the first step in realising we all had something in common regardless of age – we all enjoyed a chat and a chocolate biscuit!
This week the residents of stepping stones were invited to a tour of Nendrum College. A group of students guided the residents around the school showing them their favourite classrooms, their work in art, the technology department, the extensive Home Economic rooms and modern ICT rooms. They finished with a music lesson in the music rooms, with our very talented music tutor Mike Donaghy, having lots of fun on the African Drums.
Keep up to date with our website of all our activities with the EngAGE project and also on the Linking Generations facebook page.
